How We Farm - Technique
We are a small scale, bio-intensive, regenerative farm that practices organic farming practices. We implement growing techniques set forth by one of our mentors JM Fortier and The Market Garden Institute. We grow veggies, microgreens and some small fruit year round, right here in New Jersey.
We believe wholeheartedly the vision of The Market Garden Institute and hope you will help us by cultivating community locally.
MGI Vision:
Multiply the number of organic regenerative farms around the world and create a future where humans live in harmony with nature and each other.
Are You Organic?
While we follow organic farming principles and practices, we are not USDA Certified Organic. There are several reasons for this — including financial considerations and how the certification standards have evolved over time to favor large-scale, industrial agriculture. That said, we believe our methods go beyond organic.
At the core of our approach is the belief that healthy soil is the foundation of a healthy farm. We focus on regenerative practices like crop rotation, cover cropping, and composting to build long-term soil fertility. These methods allow us to grow nutrient-dense, flavorful produce while being mindful of our environmental impact.
We never use synthetic fertilizers or pesticides, all of our crops are grown from 100% non-GMO seeds, and we farm with ecology in mind — cultivating not just crops, but a thriving farm ecosystem supported by soil biology, wildlife, and human connection.
